Coronavirus Update

COVID-19 OFFICE POLICIES

We at Irmo Smiles consider your health and safety our top priority.  During the Covid-19 pandemic, we want to assure you that we will continue maintaining our increased level of sterilization and disinfection protocol towards keeping our office a safe and healthy atmosphere for our patients, their families and our team.

Our office will continue to monitor and implement procedures that are issued to us by the CDC, state of South Carolina and other dental organizations to decrease the spread of infection. Our entire team recently had COVID-19 specific OSHA training for your well being.  When you visit our office, you’ll see we’ve taken the following additional safety steps to keep everyone healthy and allow you to have the best patient experience possible.

1. We care for you and all our patients.  If you or a family member have any flu-like symptoms,  tested positive for COVID-19 or been in a group of 10+ people that were not practicing social distancing within the past two weeks, we ask that you please call us to reschedule your appointment.
2. Prior to appointments, patients will receive a Wellness Form.  If not completed, appointments will need to be rescheduled.
3. In order to minimize the number of people in our office, we request that you not bring additional family members or friends inside to your appointment.  We encourage anyone who accompanies you to please wait in the car since we have reduced seating in the reception area.
4. In an effort to adhere to social distancing, we ask that patients arrive on time (not early or late) to their appointment.
5. For the interim, only the patient will be allowed in the treatment areas, unless under the age of 13, may be accompanied by one adult.  A member of our team will be happy to communicate with you via phone on the treatment progress.
6. Our game room is temporarily closed.
7. For the time being, we have removed all magazines, books, bottled water, self serve coffee, and cookies to avoid multiple people handling them.
8. The stairwell will remain open, but the elevator closed to limit close contact with others.
9. All patients are required to wear a face mask when in our office, and may only remove during treatment.
10. Upon arrival, we will be taking temporal temperatures and checking for COVID-19 symptoms.  Any patients with a temperature over 100 ° F or experiencing symptoms will be rescheduled.
11. Hand-sanitizer will be available at the front desk for all patients to use as they arrive and depart.
12. We ask that patients please brush their teeth and floss before arriving to appointment.  Our toothbrush station in ortho clinic has been converted into a hand washing and rinsing station.  Per the American Dental Association recommendation, we will require all patients to rinse with 1% Hydrogen Peroxide for 1 full minute prior to beginning oral procedures.
13. We consider all our patients as family, but due to COVID-19, we must all refrain from handshakes, hugs, fist bumps and any other form of bodily contact. SMILES are always welcome!
14. Throughout the day our team will be wiping down high touch areas.
15. In order to keep our office a safe environment, we ask that you please notify team members of any concerns.

Thank you for trusting our high level of care during this unprecedented time!
